Trout And Salmon Fishing On The River Don PDF Print E-mail
The River Don is one of Scotland's angling treasures.  Not only is it recognised as a premier salmon and sea trout river, it is also renowed for the quality of its brown trout fishing.

The river enjoys the benefit of a Scottish Executive Protection Order and a River Improvement Association. The River Don has been described by Bruce Sandison, the celebrated angling authority and author, as the finest wild brown trout stream in Europe. Fish of over 3lb are not uncommon.

During the season the following fishing is to be found: early spring - salmon fishing; early summer - quality brown trout and sea trout, with summer salmon and grisle fishing through to runs of heavy back end salmon during the autum. Indeed, the Don offers the local and visiting angler an excellent chance of sport throughout the entire season.

Aberdeenshire Council manages three seperate beats on the River and access is readily available to visiting anglers at a resonable cost.
